Sand Storm! 2010: Act II, Scene 2; Return Rate and Return Portray Phase Structure.
The example Spiral Snapshot taken from the animation shows the unremarkable result that the Return Rate influences the Return. The animation itself shows the remarkable result that individual stocks seem to orbit smoothly as described on the image. Therefore long-term future behavior may be predictable as suggested by Foster Morrison. Here we specialize the concept to include identifying the range of usable forecasting dates for a stock, depending on the current distance of the stock from the center of the phase portrait. As noted on the image, distant orbits revolve more slowly than near orbits. The motions are smooth and quite clear in the animation, to the point that playing back the entire scene so conditions your eyes that the room seems to twist when the scene ends!
